The year 2020 marks the 35th anniversary of Eric Bernard's artistic career. Introduced to the guitar at the age of 10, he benefited from a solid classical training before embarking, at the age of 18, on his first tour of the Quebec-Canadian rock scene. On this adventure, the young guitarist will learn the basics of the trade while expanding his repertoire to include popular music of the time. Later, he will complete a bachelor's degree in jazz performance at the University of Montreal.
This Montreal turning point represents a second boom in the career of the guitarist who adds the strings of arranger and composer to his instrument. Between 1991 and 1994, he will compose three albums of meditative music of which more than 50,000 copies will be sold internationally, mainly in Germany; in 1996, he created an album of relaxation music of which 80,000 copies were distributed with the magazine Revue santé.
Between 1996 and 1999, he composed and arranged music for the famous Cirque Eloize, with which he also toured internationally.
On stage or on record, we could hear Eric Bernard in America, Asia and Europe with several renowned artists (Adamo, Bruno Pelletier, Pierre St-Jak) and in fields as varied as jazz (L'agence du swing), the fanfare (La fanfare Pourpour), the circus (Éloize), the musical review (Under the bridges of Paris) and poetry (Festival International de Littérature de Montréal).
In another register, Eric Bernard is also an increasingly popular director. Over the past ten years, he has directed or co-directed more than twenty albums for various artists in a wide variety of styles. Eric's great curiosity, his openness, his sensitivity, his immense flexibility and his efficiency make him a composer, an arranger, a director and a musician very appreciated, both by his peers and by the different audiences he touches with his music. .
Produced by Eric Bernard, artist Anick Gagnon's album "Le même chemin" is nominated for a Willie in the "Best Original Song Album of the Year" category for the 2020 Gala Country.
